Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ appears on Geekbench
The upgraded version of the premium Snapdragon 888 chip is likely to be available in the second half of the year.
Qualcomm may soon release an upgraded version of its Snapdragon 888 processor. As expected, the processor is dubbed Snapdragon 888+. Qualcomm has not officially announced the chipset yet, but it has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking website.
According to reliable leakster Abhishek Yadav, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ features one 3GHz core, three 2.42GHz cores, and four 1.8GHz cores. The benchmark listing reveals the Lahaina codename for the upcoming chip. Phonearena points out that the new chipset has the same clock speed as Snapdragon 888's Cortex-A78 CPUs - 2.42GHz. The report further points out that the upcoming chip may offer a minor performance bump over the current-gen. As far as the benchmark scores go, the new chipset bagged single-core and multi-core scores of 1,171 and 3,704, respectively.

Since Geekbench focuses on CPU performance, other details, such as graphics, are not known yet. The listing, however, indicates first Snapdragon 888 Plus-powered phones may hit the market sooner or later. Looking at Qualcomm's product upgrade cycle, you can expect the chip to be available in the second half of the year.
Qualcomm had launched the Snapdragon 888 SoC in December last year. The chip comes with Qualcomm's 3rd generation Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System that brings mmWave and sub-6across all major bands worldwide. It also offers support for 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, standalone, non-standalone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing among others. It also houses the sixth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine, with a Qualcomm Hexagon processor. It offers 26 tera operations per second (TOPS). It also features the second-generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which incorporates lower-power always-on AI processing for intuitive, intelligent features.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 powers a wide range of premium handsets from brands such as Samsung, Asus, Realme, and Xiaomi. Since the launch of the 888, there have been rumours of Qualcomm developing a non-5G version of the processor.
