Realme is launching a new 5G smartphone in India. It's the Realme 8 5G, and the first phone to launch in India with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor. The India launch comes just a day after the phone made its debut in Thailand.

The Realme 8 5G launch event is scheduled to take place at 12:30 pm later today. It will be a digital event, and live streamed on Realme's YouTube and Facebook channels. Realme has been teasing the 5G phone on social media but with the phone having launched already we know what its specifications are. The only information left to be revealed is the phone's price in India.

Realme 8 5G features a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and it supports expandable storage up to 1TB via a microSD card.

In the photography department, Realme 8 5G sports a triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a black and white lens, and a macro sensor. The smartphone features a 16-megapixel punch-hole camera for selfies.

Realme 8 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. On the software front, Realme 8 5G runs Android 11 with Realme UI on top. It has two colour options of blue and grey. Connectivity options on the Realme 8 5G include 5G, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
