Realme 9 5G SE takes on Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus with faster chip, lower price

Realme 9 5G SE comes in to take on the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G, that too with a lower price and a faster chip. The Realme 9 5G is the second model that accompanies the SE with a lower price but segment-leading specifications. Both phones join the Realme 9 series, which already consist of the entry-level Realme 9i, the mid-tier Realme 9 Pro and the more expensive yet brilliant Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G.

Before we head into the features and specs, here are the prices and variants. The Realme 9 5G starts at Rs. 14,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 6GB/128GB variant will set you back by Rs. 17,499. It comes in Meteor Black and Stargaze White colour options. The Realme 9 5G SE starts at Rs. 19,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The 8GB/128GB variant will cost Rs. 22,999. It comes in Starry Glow and Azure Glow colour options.

The Realme 9 5G SE gets a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with up to 144Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz sampling rate. Realme is offering the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, the latter being expandable via microSD card.

For the cameras, the SE gets a 48MP primary camera, a 2MP B/W sensor, and a 2MP macro camera sensor. The front holds a 16MP selfie camera in a punch-hole cutout.

The phone comes with Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box. A 5000mAh battery powers the phone and you get Realme's fast 30W wired charging solution as standard.

The Realme 9 5G is the more watered-down variant here, relying on a MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset, paired with up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. This one also runs on Android 11 based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box. Similar to the SE, this one also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone has the same 5000mAh battery but with a slower 18W charging solution.

The cameras remain unchanged too. The Realme 9 5G gets the same 48MP main camera along with a 2MP B/W camera and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera is reliant on a 16MP sensor.

Both the phones will go on sale from March 14.
