The main difference between the Redmi 9 that India is going to get and the Redmi 9C that has been launched globally is the camera setup on the rear. The Redmi 9C has three cameras on the back while the upcoming Redmi 9 will have two.

Going by the leaks, the Redmi 9 is going to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 chipset and come in two variants - 2GB/32GB and 3GB/64GB. It's going to have a 6.53-inch HD+LCD screen with a dew drop notch. There is a 5MP selfie camera on the front and the square camera module on the back will have a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor along with an LED flash.

There is an empty third slot that on the Redmi 9C houses a 5MP ultrawide lens, on the Redmi 9 it's going to be left empty. There is also the fingerprint sensor on the textured back.

The Redmi 9 is going to launch with the MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out-of-the-box and will come in three colours - Black, Orange and Blue. It will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, MicroUSB port and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charge support.

So why is a tweaked Redmi 9C launching in India? According to reports, the original Redmi 9C is going to launch as the POCO C3 here.
