The latest budget phone from Xiaomi, Redmi 9 comes with dual rear cameras, MIUI 12, and is priced under 10,000.

Xiaomi today launched the Redmi 9 budget smartphone in India. As expected, Redmi 9 is the Redmi 9C smartphone that launched in Malaysia recently. Redmi phone in India to launch with the new MIUI 12 out-of-the-box.

Redmi 9 starts at 8,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It also comes with 128GB storage which is priced at 9,999. Redmi 9 comes in three colour options of Sporty Orange, Sky Blue and Carbon Black. The smartphone's first sale will take place on August 31 via mi.com, Mi Home, Amazon India and offline retail stores.

Redmi 9 features a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS display with a notch on top. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek's Helio G35 processor paired with the Hyper Engine game technology. It has a dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there's a 5-megapixel front camera. Some of its camera features include AI scene detection, AI selfie, portrait mode and pro mode.

Redmi 9 packs a 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to last for two days straight. The company also says that its battery has a lifespan of 3.2 years. It also comes with P2i coating making the phone splash-proof. Its connectivity options include dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, VoWiFi, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, Redmi 9 runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10. This also enables system-wide dark mode on all apps for the Redmi 9.
