Xiaomi's latest Redmi K40 will launch globally as a Poco smartphone, reports 91Mobile.

According to the report, the information is based on a listing on Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The listing shows a smartphone with model number M2012K11AG certified as a Poco phone. The model number is said to be of the vanilla Redmi K40 version.

Repackaging a Redmi phone as a Poco phone is not very surprising. Poco has launched a few rebranded Redmi smartphones as their own. For instance, its comeback phone Poco X2 was a rebadged Redmi K30 4G from China. The M2 Pro is also considered as repackaged Redmi Note 9 Pro.

That said, Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi K40 series in China. The series features Redmi K40, Redmi K40+ and Redmi K40 Pro+. The smartphones come with AMOLED displays with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. All the models run on Qualcomm's 8-series chips.

The pick of the lot is the Redmi K40 Pro+. The smartphone comes with a 108-megapixel camera (Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor) on the back. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, 5-megapixel macro rear sensors, and a 20-megapixel sensor on the front. It comes with a 6.67-inch display.

Redmi K40 Pro+ runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. A 4,250mAh battery powers the phone. It also has 33W fast-charging support. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, 4G LTE, and 5G.

Redmi K40 Pro has identical specifications except for the camera configuration. It has a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor on the back. The rest of the specifications such as the processor, display size and resolution, and battery capacity, remains the same.

Xiaomi's new Redmi K40 series will be available in China for a starting price of CNY 1,999 ( 22,400 approximately). The top-end variant, Redmi K40+, comes in only one version and is priced at CNY 3,699 ( 41,600 approximately).
