While Redmi has been raining affordable smartphones in India lately, it has come up with its flagships in the Chinese market. Meet the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro, the successor to the popular Redmi K40 series from last year that made it to India as the Mi 11X series. On the lines of 2022 flagship killers, these Redmi K50 series devices bring some upgrades and a couple of carryovers. No information on the global launch date have come up yet.

The Redmi K50 Pro is the most feature-rich model that starts at CNY 2999 ($472) for the base 8GB/128GB storage variant. The 256GB variant of the same comes in at CNY 3299 ($520) while the 12GB/256GB variant will come in at CNY 2799 ($440). The Redmi K50 starts from CNY 2399 ($378) for the base 8GB/128GB variant, while the top-end variant with 12GB/256GB variant costs CNY 2799 ($440).

Redmi K50 series goes MediaTek power

Instead of the Snapdragon 8 series chips, the Redmi K50 series has switched entirely to the MediaTek power. The Redmi K50 Pro gets the Dimensity 9000 chip that compares with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in terms of raw performance. The regular Redmi K50 uses the slightly less powerful Dimensity 8100 chip that compares with the Snapdragon 888.

Both phones offers the same 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, and are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. They come with MIUI 13 out of the box.

The Redmi K50 Pro relies on a 5000mAh battery that uses a 120W fast wired charging solution, promising a 0-100 percent charge in 19 minutes. The regular Redmi K50 gets the slower 67W charging but has a bigger 5500mAh battery.

Cameras don't see big changes form the Redmi K40 series though. The Redmi K50 Pro gets a triple camera system, consisting of a 108MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The Redmi K50 only gets the 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera.

There are four colour variants available on the entire Redmi K50 series. You get gradient shades of green, blue and silver as standard. There is also a balk variant with sparkling elements towards the bottom of the body.
