Redmi K50i has been made official in India and just as Redmi promised, this is indeed an “Extreme” phone – extreme by its specifications and extreme by its price. The Redmi K50i becomes the most affordable smartphone in India at the moment featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. That's not all, as Redmi has essentially given everything in this phone that qualifies it as a gaming smartphone at a reasonable price. Check out everything about it.
The Redmi K50i is available in India in two storage variants. There will be a base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage that will set you back by Rs. 25,999. On the other hand, there is also another variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage that costs Rs. 28,999. The phone is available in Quick Silver, Stealth Black and Phantom Blue colours. Alongside the phone, Redmi also launched the Redmi Buds 3 Lite at a price of Rs. 1,999.
Redmi K50i goes extreme with specs and price
For the price, the Redmi K50i is currently the most powerful smartphone you can buy for less than Rs. 30,000, beating the Poco F4 as well. The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 offers comparable levels of performance as the Snapdragon 888 and runs cooler as well. This is accompanied by LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, which assures this will be a very fast phone to boot. Redmi is offering the MIUI 13 experience out of the box based upon Android 12.
For the display, you are getting a 6.67-inch FHD+ Field Fringe Switching LCD display that has a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz. There is support for Dolby Vision, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and 1 billion colours. For those who are wondering, Field Fringe Switching enables the display to deliver better light transmittance, better colour reproduction and wider viewing angles than an IPS LCD display, all while keeping it power efficient.
The phone also gets a stereo speaker setup with support Dolby ATmos. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack with audiophile grade hardware that Redmi says removes the need for a DAC. As for the cameras, you get a triple camera setup at the back, comprising of a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera.
Lastly, all of this is powered by a 5080mAh battery that comes with support for 67W fast wired charging. The phone also has IP53 certification for water and dust resistance. The display also gets Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
