(HT Tech) ![Author Photo](https://images.hindustantimes.com/tech/static/revamp/images/png/HTTech-new-circle-logo.png) ### By HT TECH Some Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro users have complained that the camera module on their units has gathered dust particles, making the rear camera pretty much useless. Mi Forum is flooded with such posts where users have shared their ordeal and even shared live photos of the dust sitting on the camera. So far, Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro units seem to have been largely affected. Some Redmi Note 9 Pro Max users have also complained about facing such issues. > @manukumarjain Redmi note 9 pro max has serious camera dust issueI got this device 10 days back and now I've dust all over the lens of main camera"64mp"How can I solve this issue permanently?Note: shots taken by redmi note 8 pro using micro lens!! pic.twitter.com/uDJzlfMGXA— Suman Paudel (@paudelsuman44) August 4, 2020 Notebookcheck.net in its report pointed out that Xiaomi is aware of the issue as well. Alvin Tse, General Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, had confirmed a few months ago receiving such complaints from users. Tse had also promised to improve the quality control to avoid such cases. He further requested customers to get the units fixed at Xiaomi’s service centres. Also read click here. > Thanks for the feedback. For now only very small numbers of cases reported but we have asked factory to further tighten up the control. Service centres will be available to help with the few who face this issue, thanks— Alvin Tse #MiFan (@atytse) June 26, 2020 According to a piunikaweb.com report, the number of such complaints has only increased over a period of time. > @Poorvika_Mobile I purchased redmi note 9 pro max on 22/07/2020 there is a dust inside the camera I told to showroom person they told to go to service centre they removed the dust yesterday 25/07/2020 but again today there is a dust inside the camera I want a replacement pic.twitter.com/no8IoC2eDv— 9741574838 (@s262tfcf7x5VqHk) July 26, 2020 That said, it’s a rare quality slip up from Xiaomi, especially for their flagship budget phones. In India as well, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 series is among the most popular budget and mid-range smartphones. Another key thing to note is that the quality issue is related to the hardware which is far more difficult to fix for users.
