Samsung foldable phone launched! It is not what you expect

Samsung foldable phone has been launched and it is not a successor to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which were launched in August. Meet the Samsung Galaxy W22.

Samsung, back in August this year, hosted its Galaxy Unpacked event during which it launched its next-generation of foldable display smartphones. This included the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Now, word is that the company has launched another premium foldable display smartphone and significantly, it is not a successor to its Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone.

GizChina reports that a new premium Samsung foldable phone has been launched in China called the “Heart of the World”. The official name of the newly launched foldable display smartphone, however, is the Samsung Galaxy W22. It doesn't succeed any of the company's existing foldable display smartphone lineup.

As far as the overall design is concerned, the newly launched Samsung Galaxy W22 looks quite similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone sans one key difference. The hinge and the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy W22 smartphone are golden in colour. Additionally, it has a vertically stacked rear camera setup that is not placed inside one of those broader camera modules that we see in multi-camera smartphones these days. Instead, it is placed inside a slim camera module that looks classic and does the job well.

Another difference between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy W22 is that the hinge of the latter has a slot for Samsung's S Pen stylus. Also, the Galaxy W22 has been launched exclusively in a Black colour variant with the “Heart of the World” logo printed at the back.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy W22 5G smartphone sports a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2208x1768 pixels, a screen refresh rate of 120Hz refresh rate and an under-screen front camera. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor that is coupled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. On the camera front, the Samsung Galaxy W22 features a 12MP+12MP+12MP rear camera setup and a 10MP selfie camera. It is backed by a 4,400mAh battery. It has 5G, WiFi and Bluetooth v5.2 for connectivity.

The Samsung Galaxy W22 is priced at 16,999 Yuan ( ₹1,98,920 approx.) and it will be available in China starting October 14.
