The Galaxy S22 Ultra resurrects the Galaxy Note series in a new avatar and strengthens itself up for taking on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. From its display to the cameras and even gimmicks, Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra has one-upped the iPhone 13 Pro Max on the paper. In fact, Samsung's S22 Ultra ends up being more expensive than the iPhone 13 Pro Max; almost $100 more than the base 128GB iPhone 13 Pro Max in the US. The iPhone costs $1,099 while the Samsung costs $ 1,199.

Galaxy S22 Ultra vs iPhone 13 Pro Max comparison
The Galaxy S22 Ultra gets a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. The touch sampling rate goes up to 240Hz and there's a small hole cutout for the selfie camera. Peak brightness goes up to 1750nits.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR Display with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. It also supports Dolby Vision content, gets True Tone, and HDR colour support. The peak brightness goes up to 1200 nits. A big notch holds the front camera and other sensors.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is relying on the A15 Bionic chip with a beefed up six-core GPU, along with 5G network compatibility. Apple offers the option of choosing between 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage.
Similar to the Galaxy S22, Samsung says it uses a 4nm processor in the Galaxy S22 Ultra but does not mention the name; it could vary between Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 depending on your market. The S22 Ultra comes with the option to choose between 8GB and 12GB RAM. Storage options include 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage.
iPhone 13 Pro Max launched with iOS 15 and is expected to get up to six years of OS updates. Samsung launches the S22 Ultra with Android 12-based One UI 4.1 and confirms four OS upgrades as well.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max relies on the Face ID system for unlocking the device. Samsung offers its ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S22 series.
With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, you are getting a 108MP main camera with OIS and Dual Pixel Auto Focus. There's also a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom, another 10MP telephoto camera with 10X optical zoom. The front camera sensor retains the 40MP sensor from last year's S21 Ultra.
On the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you get a 12MP main camera with sensor shift staillity, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom. The front camera sticks to a 12MP TrueDepth camera system that can take 3D portraits.
Both phones can record videos and photos in RAW format but the Samsung phone has several more camera features to offer.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is currently our battery champ, with the ability to easy last up to two days. It supports 20W wired charging (reports say it supports faster 27W charging) and 15W wireless MagSafe charging.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra relies on a 5000mAh battery and gets support for 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
