Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 battery capacity revealed

It is expected to launch in the summer of 2021.

Samsung is expected to launch three new foldable display smartphones this year. One of those smartphones is expected to be the Galaxy Z Flip 2. However, some reports in the past have hinted towards the company ditching the Galaxy Z Flip 2 moniker in favour of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 naming. While there is no clarity in this regard at the moment, a new report does talk about the battery capacity of Samsung's upcoming foldable display smartphone.

The phone was recently spotted on the websites of three regulatory agencies -- Safety Korea, 3C and DEKRA. The listing on these websites, as spotted by SamMobile, indicates that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will come with a clamshell design along with a dual-battery system that is similar to the original Galaxy Z Flip smartphone.

This means that the main battery unit of the upcoming smartphone will come with a rated capacity of 2,300mAh and a typical capacity of 2,370mAh. This battery will be paired with a smaller, secondary battery with a rated capacity of 903mAh.

The report says that if Samsung doesn't make any significant changes to the overall design of the phone, the smaller battery will be placed in the upper half section of the phone while the main battery unit will be placed in the lower half of the phone. Combined together, they will provide a total battery capacity of around 3,300mAh.

As far as the specifications are concerned, reports in the past have hinted towards the Galaxy Flip 2 featuring a 6.9-inch foldable screen with less crease and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is also expected to get a 2x-3x bigger outer display with a 3,900mAh battery. Coming to the launch date, while Samsung has remained tight-lipped about the matter so far, reports hint towards the phone launching in the summer of this year.
