Samsung, Huawei shipped the most 5G smartphones in Q1, 2020

Samsung currently boasts of the biggest 5G smartphone line-up across brands and this seems to have paid off. According to reports, Samsung shipped more smartphones than all other brands in the first quarter of 2020.

The Korea Herald reports that Samsung has shipped around 8.3 million 5G smartphones in Q1 2020 and has captured 34.4% of the 5G smartphone market share this quarter. This place Samsung ahead of brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Huawei and Oppo.

Huawei comes second on the list of most 5G smartphones shipped in Q1 2020. They shipped 8 million 5G devices and captured 33.2% of the market.

Vivo shipped 2.9 million devices, followed by Xiaomi who shipped 2.5 million and Oppo shipping 1.2 million 5G smartphones around the world.

A total of 24.1 million 5G smartphones were shipped around the globe in the first quarter of 2020 before the pandemic hit and stopped both production and distribution. Currently, numbers are at an all time low and are expected to pick up when global lockdown restrictions are eased.
