Samsung’s new foldable phone is in the works, to come with an affordable price tag
Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone will be priced much lower than the contemporary foldable phones. A new report gives a glimpse of what to expect from the device.
There has been a lot of buzz around the foldable phones. From Moto Razr to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 2, these foldable phones have one thing in common – they are very expensive. With only companies experimenting with the form factor (commercially), these phones have remained out of reach for masses because of their steep pricing. Samsung may finally address this gap.
Sammobile in its latest report reveals the Korean company is working on a new foldable phone that will have an affordable price tag. The report further says that the upcoming affordable foldable phone from Samsung sports model number SM-F415. It pointed out that Samsung has allocated “F” tags for its foldable phones. For instance, Galaxy Z Fold 2 has SM-F916 model number.
Apart from the model number, not much is known about this mysterious affordable foldable phone. According to an older report, Samsung will launch the device next year. In terms of specifications, leaks say it will come in 64GB and 128GB storage configurations.
If the report is to be believed, Samsung may very well gain an edge over the competition which is very little anyway. It will be also interesting to see how Samsung can manage to pull off a more affordable foldable phone without cutting corners.
From what we have learned from the first generation of Galaxy Fold, foldable phones look and feel great but require higher maintenance compared to normal phones. Motorola did try to offer a lower-priced alternative but offered an underwhelming set of specifications. We are hearing Motorola is working on an upgraded version of the phone. That’s another piece of tech to watch out for.
