Looks like Samsung is not done making compact smartphones. The company, which launched its Galaxy XCover 4 handset back in 2017, is now set to launch its successor, the Galaxy XCover 5 this year. Although there is no confirmation coming from the South Korean tech giant, a report from Winfuture has revealed the upcoming handset's design along with some specifications.

According to the report, the XCover 5 is said to be a compact device that will also have a removable battery. It is said to feature a 3,000mAh battery with 15W charging. Powering the smartphone might be the midrange Exynos 850 processor along with 4 GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded using a micro SD card.

There might also be some more variants based on different RAM and storage sizes. However, we don't know the details on those yet.

The Galaxy XCover 5 is said to pack a 5.3-inch screen, which puts it against its iOS rival, iPhone 12 Mini, which has a screen size of 5.4-inches. But the XCover has a different audience considering it is made for rough use. The Android phone is said to have 1480x720 display resolution along with 16:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 6 covering.

According to the renders, the handset has thick bezels on top and bottom, along with a rugged side, protecting the device. At the back, you see a single camera surrounded by a Red ring. This is expected to feature a 16-megapixel sensor along with two LEDs, and a 5-megapixel shooter at the front.

The Galaxy XCover 5 is also supposed to get the IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating along with MIL-STD 810G certification for durability. As mentioned in the report, the connectivity options of the smartphone may include Bluetooth 5.0, support for 5GHz Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack.

Although one cannot see a fingerprint scanner on the phone, the device is expected to feature face unlock. According to Winfuture, the upcoming Galaxy XCover 5 might be priced between EUR 289 and EUR 299. And for the launch, the device is expected to see the light of the day later this month.
