Few manufacturers can claim to match Samsung's speed when it comes to pushing out updates this year, with the company's planned Android 11 upgrades rolling out to most of its Galaxy devices well ahead of schedule. Most notably, the company has quickly updated several budget and midrange devices to One UI 3.0 based on Android 11 with the same speed as its more expensive offerings, while also sending out the more recent One UI 3.1 update to other devices.

On Thursday evening, we received an update notification offering the update to One UI 3.1, as part of a 744.44 MB update package that also bumps the monthly security patches up to March. Meanwhile, users who decide to install the update should make sure they are connected to Wi-Fi given its size, and make sure they have a good ten minutes to spare while the update installs, as the Galaxy M30s does not support seamless updates via a system A/B partition, unlike most other modern smartphones.

Users who update to One UI 3.1 from the older version should have the option to use Samsung Free or Google Discover on the home screen, add Google Home device controls alongside Samsung SmartThings on the quick settings page, use Google Duo integrated into the system dialer, access new video call effects, share photos after stripping private location information, use the new built-in Eye Comfort Shield, and much more, according to Samsung's website.
