Saregama brings its content catalogue to Josh users

Josh users now have access to Saregama’s diverse content catalogue that includes more than 1,30,000 songs.

Saregama on Tuesday announced a music licensing deal with Josh. The partnership will allow Josh users to access to the Saregama library with more than 1,30,00 songs. The library will also cover Indian languages such as Hindi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi and Gujarati, among others.

The Saregama content catalogue spans genres such as film/non- film songs, devotional music, ghazals & indipop in more than 25 languages. Content creators on Josh will also have access to songs by Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Gulzar, Jagjit Singh, R.D Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, Geeta Dutt and Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Josh is a short video sharing platform launched by VerSe Innovation.

The company says it has more than 77 million monthly active users.

The announcement comes after VerSe Innovation raised more than $100 million from investors such as Alphabet Inc's Google and Microsoft. AlphaWave, a part of global asset manager Falcon Edge Capital, also invested in VerSe, as did existing investors Sofina Group and Lupa Systems. The Bengaluru-based Verse Innovation is valued more than $1 billion following the investment. VerSe Innovation is also known for its other digital news and content platform, Dailyhunt.
