iOS 16 brings exciting new changes to the iPhone lock screen

It will not be an exaggeration to say that the iPhone lock screen is getting a total overhaul. With the iOS 16 update, it will not only look different, it will also be able to provide more information and in newer ways. Plus, customizability becomes a huge part of this new lock-screen upgrade. So, whether you are using the iPhone 13 or iPhone 12, you will be able to experience unique fonts, new color themes and widgets! Yes, widgets have come to the lock screen for the first time ever. And it is super easy to add your favorite elements to the lock screen as well.

There are a plethora of choices for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 users to pick a wallpaper. Apple now offers different collections like Photos, Colors, emoji, weather, astronomy and more to pick the one you like the best. Additionally, a user can either stick with one wallpaper or shuffle between multiple photos. The date and time fonts are also customizable and there are various photo styles that can be applied.

The biggest addition to the lock screen are the widgets. Users will be able to add widgets and see information around weather, time, date, battery level, calendar events, alarms, time zones and more without needing to unlock the device. And more widgets can be coming to iOS 16 soon as Apple has made the Widget API available for the developers.

Finally, iOS 16 lock screens will also change the way notifications are displayed. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 users will notice that notifications are now added towards the bottom of the screen so that the information on top is never clogged. Apple has also added the Live Activities feature, which will keep you informed about the latest scores in a sporting event or let you track information about Uber without getting bombarded with multiple notifications.

Apple has announced that the public beta version of iOS 16 will be available by July and the stable versions will be rolled out globally in fall.
