Vivo Y31s is the first phone with Qualcomm’s 480 5G chip

Qualcomm recently introduced 5G-enabled Snapdragon 480 mobile platform. It is the first time the chipset company has introduced 5G prowess to its 4 series SoCs, generally available on low-end and budget phones. Now, Vivo has become the first brand to launch a phone with the latest Qualcomm chipset.

Called Y31s, Vivo's new phone will be available in China initially. The phone comes in Monot Color, Titanium Empty Gray, and Ruby Red colour options.

In terms of specifications, Vivo Y31s measures 164.15 × 75.35 × 8.40mm and weighs around 185.5 grams. It comes with a 6.58-inch IPS LCD panel with full HD+ resolution. The display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate and 90.61% screen-to-body ratio and 1500:1 contrast ratio. The front also houses a dewdrop notch.

In the photography department, Vivo Y31s comes with two rear cameras featuring a 13-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel depth sensor. It is accompanied by an LED flash.

For performance, Vivo Y31s runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor coupled with 6GB LDDR4X RAM and 128GB built-in storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

Apart from 5G capabilities, Qualcomm's latest processor comes with various upgrades. The chipset offers 2x2 Wi-Fi (dual Wi-Fi antennas) with a set of key Wi-Fi 6 features, such as 8x8 sounding with multi-user MIMO performance improvements. The chip also offers Bluetooth 5.1 and advanced wireless audio capabilities. It comes with dual-frequency GPS and NavIC for location positioning.
