According to a new leak, the company is now adding support for the ability to preview your voice notes on WhatsApp for iOS before sending them to users.

WhatsApp, the encrypted messenger service owned by Facebook is always working on new features, while adding small quality of life improvements to its existing ones to make them more meaningful for users. According to a new leak, the company is now adding support for the ability to preview your voice notes on WhatsApp for iOS before sending them to users.

The new feature was spotted by noted WhatsApp feature leaker WABetaInfo, and comes at a time when the chat service is currently testing a feature to allow users to play voice notes at varying speeds. This new feature will reportedly allow you to record a voice note and then hear the message before you send it. Reviewing voice notes is a feature that could come in handy, especially considering the unfortunate location of the voice note button in the chat app.

According to WABetaInfo, the company will add a new “Review” button for users to listen in and verify that the voice note contains only the intended content, before the voice note is sent. If there is something wrong with the voice note or there was a disturbance, you can simply discard it and repeat the process of recording and reviewing it all over again. WABetaInfo says there’s no official release date for the feature, but that it should arrive for both iOS and Android when it is ready.

While users can currently check their voice notes on WhatsApp for both iOS and Android using a quick workaround – start recording a voice note and swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go to the recent task switcher when you want to stop recording. When you go back to your chat, you should have a preview of your voice note waiting for you. However, this is not reliable and an official review option is more reliable and we are looking forward to seeing it released in the future.
