Worrying iPhone SE 3 leak! Low price may not matter to fans
The iPhone SE 3 leaks suggest that the base variant may not be the popular model among iPhone seekers. Know all the reasons.
iPhone SE 3 leaks reveal a worrying aspect! The new iPhone SE 3 has already been known to a minor update over its predecessor, with no big changes planned on the outside. The only change is expected to come on the inside, where Apple will inject a boost of power into this old iPhone, and bring is support for 5G connectivity. And based on the rumours so far, starting price of $300 could mean well for Apple, since it wants to target the affordable end of the market. Sadly, there's one sad bit to the iPhone SE 3's low price.
Popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who dishes out some of the most reliable Apple insider information, suggests that the iPhone SE 3 could have the same storage configuration as the 2020 iPhone SE. That means the base variant will come with 64GB of storage whereas the mid-model could get 128GB. Apple could also offer a 256GB variant of the iPhone SE 3. This is quite different from the standardised 128Gb storage on the iPhone 13 lineup.
iPhone SE 3 won't be spacious!
Most smartphones launched these days around the $300 mark offer 128GB of storage as standard, along with 8GB of RAM. While iPhones never have to worry about low RAM capacity, the storage bit is concerning. The 64GB storage may not be enough for a user in 2022 to store their data and install apps, all while iOS itself installs its updates and expands its files with future updates.
Obviously, the 64GB storage could help Apple achieve a much lower starting price on the iPhone SE 3. However, based on the leaks, the iPhone SE 3 is the pinnacle of cost-cutting measures – using a design from 2014 for a 2022 phone is on a different level of crafty business decisions. With such a large amount of cost saved, it could be kind gesture on Apple's part to offer 128GB of storage as standard on the iPhone SE 3.
Then again, it would have been nice if Apple had offered a completely modern iPhone in the iPhone SE 3 – one that offered an edge-to-edge display, a larger battery, and better cameras. Apple still considers the iPhone SE as the entry-point into the Apple ecosystem, letting users try out its services and getting “tied” to its ecosystem. The iPhone SE 3 will be a crucial step in these efforts and it remains to be seen whether Apple makes it easy for the consumers to do that.
