Xiaomi Redmi K40 gaming phone’s launch date announced, teaser reveals key feature
As per Google Translate, the name converts to “Xiaomi Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Version”.
Xiaomi confirmed that it is working ona gaming smartphone a few months ago. However, nothing was revealed about the device until a few weeks ago when we started seeing some leaks hitting the web. Now, the company is finally ready with the product and has given out the official launch date as April 27. The launch date announcement comes via the company's Weibo account and is for China only.
The teaser (via GSMArena) also mentions that the gaming smartphone will be a part of the company's Redmi K40 series as well. As per Google Translate, the name converts to “Xiaomi Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Version” but it is unlikely that the device will launch with this marketing name.

The teaser also confirms one of the previously rumoured features - retractable side buttons for better gaming. We have seen side sensitive buttons in devices like ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 5. However, having an actual button will make the gaming experience a bit reliable and better. There will be a slider button beside each retractable button, sliding which will pop out the retractable buttons and set it back, flush with the device's body.
What's more is that the teaser shows the gaming Redmi K40 smartphone to feature triple rear cameras that have LEDs at the top and bottom, indicating when they are being used and when they aren't. In addition, some design tweaks are also visible in the form of lines and more gamer-centric accents.
Redmi has also confirmed the handset will use MediaTek's high-end Dimensity 1200 processor. As per a recent report, the handset will feature Samsung's AMOLED E4 display. It will have a punch-hole cut out at the top centre and support for 144Hz refresh rate.
