MIUI 12, the latest version of Xiaomi’s popular Android skin was released in April last year, bringing an improved system-wide dark mode and gestures, a redesigned interface, Super Wallpapers, and much more. Nearly a year later, the company’s much-awaited MIUI 12.5 update is reportedly rolling out to a small selection of devices.

The Chinese device manufacturer took to Weibo to announce the first MIUI 12.5 rollout to seven devices, as spotted by Gizchina. The upgrade is being delivered via an over the air (OTA) update to the Mi 11 series, the Mi 10 series, the Mi 9 SE. They were some of the first devices that the company was testing the latest update for and the update is now rolling out on the stable channel.

The Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10, and Mi 9 SE which are receiving the update could also get the update at different stages, as this is a phased rollout, according to the report.

The MIUI 12.5 update is expected to make the company’s software lighter, faster and more efficient and use less resources. It will also feature better gestures, faster response time, better animations, new Super Wallpapers, notification sounds and haptics, and privacy features. These privacy features include Clipboard protection, File storage (Isolation), Browser, and Location (Non-precise positioning).
