When it comes to the looks of the smartphone's rear panel, one company that has been maintaining its attractive finish is Vivo. The smartphone manufacturer offers an attractive combination of looks and camera on the new addition Vivo T1 Pro 5G as well. The device has arrived as a successor to Vivo T1 5G that was launched earlier this year. While the Vivo T1 5G was sharply focused on gaming and other aspects took a backseat, the new device seems to get quite a few things right. On paper, the company has claimed an overall decent experience with AI enabled camera features, Snapdragon 778G powered chipset, AMOLED display and 5G support all under just Rs. 25000. But does it live up to its claims off paper as well?

Well! This mid-segment smartphone market in India is highly cluttered with phones like Oppo F21 Pro that seek to offer better performance, gaming experience and decent camera quality. So does that make the Vivo T1 Pro 5G a decent choice at this price? Or is it just like any other phone launched in this segment? Starting at a price of just Rs. 23,999, it is surely one of the hottest phones in this price segment and looks like a good deal at least on paper. However, is this new phone from Vivo able to impress us? To find all these answers, I have spent over 10 days with Vivo T1 Pro 5G and here's my experience.

Vivo T1 Pro 5G Design

Starting with the design, as soon as I got the Vivo T1 Pro out of the box, I was quite impressed with its dazzling look. Despite its usual shade of gradient blue, Vivo T1 Pro 5G joins the ranks of good looking phones. The rear panel has a shiny finish that shimmers in light giving the phone a jazzy look. There is a gigantic and bold camera module along with a LED flash that sits confidently on the rear cover. The phone has a plastic build but it's dust and scratch proof, giving it a neat and clean look.

The phone has curved edges with matte finish which makes it handy to use. The phone is rather compact and pocketable which I found quite appealing as I am not a very big fan of big phones. The phone is offered in Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan color options and I have received the later one.

Now moving to the front, the phone offers a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a water drop notch for the selfie camera. The phone might give you a dated feel with its large-ish chin beneath the bezels and the drop notch design, it doesn't look unpleasant.

The functionalities on the smartphone's sides includes a power button and a volume rocker on the right, while the left has nothing. The sensor is pretty responsive and if you can also go for facial recognition as well as in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the device. The SIM tray is placed on the base of the phone, and beside that there is a speaker grille and a USB Type-C port. The phone lacks a 3.5 mm audio jack. The phone is impressively slim and easy to handle despite its 4700 mAh battery.

Vivo T1 Pro 5G Display

The T1 Pro 5G comes with a full HD+ AMOLED display and supports a decent 90Hz refresh rate. The mobile phone company could have given a higher refresh rate of 120HZ. Having said that Vivo itself has given a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz in Vivo T1 5G that comes at a lesser price, but the device doesn't have an AMOLED display.

But the 90Hz refresh rate is also not bad at all. It also offers 1300 nits brightness.

The display is fluid and responsive to play high-octane games and also gives a pleasant experience while watching movies and web series on your phone. It delivers commendable colors, contrast and brightness. The display has a nice 20:9 aspect ratio and a 100% percent DCI P3 color gamut. On the top of all, the phone also has an SGS Eye Care Display certification that lets you enjoy hours of binge watching without feeling a strain on your eyes.

Vivo T1 Pro 5G Performance

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 778G 5G octa-core processor comprising Kryo 670 CPU cores. Despite being a year old chip, it's an energy-efficient processor that could make the 4700mAh battery last through the day and also offer well optimized performance. The same processor, you can find in iQOO Z6 Pro, Realme 9 5G Speed Edition, Oppo Reno Z and Samsung A73 5G. It handles day-to-day jobs pretty well and allows most games to execute at high graphic settings. I'm not a big fan of gaming but I had a brief session of BGMI and Call of Duty without any hitches. The device features Ultra Game Mode as well as calibrated Z-axis linear motor and 4D Game Vibration for faster gaming actions giving an immersive gaming experience. I have also tried photo and video editing tools like Canva and it worked quite smoothly. Binge watching web series and movies was also a nice experience as I didn't feel any lag even after hours of using it. Also, the device lives up to its claim of having 8 layer liquid cooling technology as it didn't get heated anywhere. At this price range, it is definitely one of the best processors.

The phone relies on Android 12 out of the box along with the FunTouch OS giving an option to extend virtual RAM upto 2 GB as well as offer a clean visual experience. The handsets come with a bunch of pre-installed apps like the usual Moj, Takatak, and others; however, you can delete them if not required. The device ships with 6GB and 8GB of RAM along with 128 GB storage.

Coming to the audio quality, the Vivo T1 Pro 5G impressed here as well with superior audio performance. The phone packs dual stereo speakers that support Hi-Res audio.

The device supports only seven 5G bands making you future ready for whenever 5G will be commercially deployed in India.

Vivo T1 Pro 5G Camera

The Vivo T1 Pro 5G comes with a triple camera setup on the rear with 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel front camera. The 64 MP primary camera does incredibly well capturing minute details and delivering excellent dynamic range. Its large f/1.79 aperture ensures ample details in low-light images as well. There's a Super Night Mode that denoises the images and subtly adds light to nighttime shots. Even the 8MP ultra-wide camera is not bad at all. It boasts a 117-degree field of view, however, it delivers soft details and also you can observe a color switch in pictures captured by ultra wide cameras than the ones clicked by normal camera.

About selfie cameras, I would say the skin color reproduction could have been better. The phone also supports several features like Panorama mode, portrait mode, Slow-mo among others making it a decent option for social content creators. In portrait mode, there are several filters and styles to play around with to give your social media posts a twist. Also while using the Full Zoom option (2X Zoom), I would say the picture quality is good.

Additionally, the smartphone supports 4K video recording allowing you to record wonderful moments in ultra-high-definition. Some of the features like the Super Stabilization and Dual-View Video Mode that allows users to record videos from both rear and front cameras simultaneously will appeal to vloggers and content creators.

Vivo T1 Pro 5G Battery

The phone relies on a powerful 4700mAh battery. Based on my regular usage that includes surfing the internet, watching videos or films, attending calls or video calls, browsing social networking apps and playing games, it offers an impressive battery backup of upto a day on a single charge. And that's not all, the Vivo T1 Pro ships with 66W FlashCharge technology allowing you to get your device charged to 50 percent in just 25 minutes.

Verdict

Overall, there is nothing to dislike about the Vivo T1 Pro 5G. It could have been better on a few aspects like 90Hz refresh rate and selfie camera, however, these aren't total disappointments. It delivers smooth, consistent and energy efficient performance. This time, I would say, Vivo hasn't compromised on camera or display or other features given its price point. It's a future ready smart phone along with decent performance, display quality and camera features. Though there are several competitors available in the market from iQOO Z6 Pro to Oppo F21 Pro, Redmi Note 11 Pro plus and others, but if you're looking for a good looking 5G phone with decent camera features, battery backup and powerful, then this new addition to Vivo series T can surely be a top choice under Rs. 25000.
