Google has rolled out a major update on to the Android mobile operating system-powered smartphones. The update brings five important features to Android smartphones. The company says that these newly launched features will not only enhance the users' safety but they will also empower Android smartphone users to get a more peaceful sleep.

Take a peek at all the updates…

Android Earthquake Alerts System

This feature enables users to detect earthquakes on Android smartphones across the globe. This would give users faster earthquake information when they look for ‘earthquake near me' on Search. This will be available on devices running Android 5.0 and above.

Android Emergency Location Service

Google today announced that Android's Emergency Location Service or ELS is now available to over 800 million people across 29 countries. Android smartphones will share users' device's language when they dial their local emergency number. This would enable the emergency operators to get a translator and send help if you don't speak the local language. This feature is available on devices running Android 4.1 and above with Google Play Services installed.

Get more done in the car

Google has rolled out an update to Android Auto that will enable users to stay on top of their day without having to glance at their phones. Google says that the newly rolled out update will give users a quick look into their daily schedules on their car's display with the new calendar app. Users will also get directions to specific locations from the calendar entry. The new Android Auto calendar app will be rolling out to devices running Android 6.0 and above over the coming month.

Bedtime tab in Clock

Google has rolled out Bedtime tab in Clock that will help users to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, track their screen time at night, and fall asleep to soothing music from Calm, Spotify and YouTube Music among others. The Bedtime tab in the Clock app is now available for devices running Android 6.0 and above. Google says that for devices with Digital Wellbeing installed, users can turn on Bedtime mode in their settings or schedule it directly from the Clock app.

Lookout app

Google has rolled out an update on to its Lookout app that enables users to scan long-form documents into readable text and identify products from their food labels. It is even more compatible with screen readers. This update is available for all devices with more than 2GB of RAM running Android 6 and later.

In addition to all these features, Google has also rolled out a bunch of new features on Google Classrooms and Google Meet. You can check all the details here.
