Tendulkar is so influential that he managed to beat Hollywood heartthrobs Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and Leonardo Di Caprio. Just goes to show that cricket carries a hefty punch even though it is not a global game yet. One of the greatest batsmen of all time and one who is rated almost on equal footing as the great Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar has been ranked as one of the 50 most influential people on Twitter this year.

Sachin Tendulkar has been ranked at number 35. This is according to an annual research by consumer intelligence company Brandwatch. And not just Hollywood icons, Sachin Tendulkar even surpassed Barack Obama's wife, former first lady of the United States, the very popular Michelle Obama!

US singer Taylor Swift is at number 1 spot and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is placed at number two in the list.

What got Sachin Tendulkar into the 50 most influential people on Twitter list

Sachin Tendulkar has been very actively pursuing a number of social causes since his retirement. The ranking highlighted his "appreciable real work for the less fortunate, lending his voice and presence for the right causes, his inspired fans following his work and his partner brands' relevant impactful campaigns."

Among the top social causes that Sachin Tendulkar has been espousing is his role with the UNICEF in which he shoulders the responsibility of being the ambassador for South Asia. He has been in that role since in 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar's other social causes are in health, education, and sports.

Sachin has a massive following in India and the cricket-playing world not just for his batting abilities but also for his humble and ever-helpful nature. His batting prowess can be gauged from the fact that he has an average of 53.79 in Test cricket, 44.83 in one-day internationals and 33.83 in Indian Premier League (IPL). Sachin played his last Test match in 2013 and that was against the West Indies. It was played in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
