Adobe Lightroom’s latest update brings new, smarter editing tools
Adobe Lightroom gets updated with new editing tools and features.
Adobe on Tuesday announced big update to its Lightroom ecosystem. The update focuses on helping photographers with better and smarter editing features. Adobe is rolling out new tools to Lightroom on all major platforms including iOS and Android. Windows and Mac will receive the features very soon.
One of the biggest additions in Adobe Lightroom is Home view which gives easier access to your recent photos. For mobile photography enthusiasts, it offers tutorials and photos recommendations. The tutorials, however, are interactive instead of short video clips. On Windows and Mac, Adobe Lightroom now offers a richer help menu with "searchable" box to look up different tools.
The update also makes it easier for you to collaborate with others on a project. Like Google Docs or Drive, now you can share link and invite others to join your project. Others can also contribute to your albums. Owner of the album will have full access to the images shared.

Adobe Lightroom now has newer editing tools including Texture, Defringe, and batch editing among others. As the name implies, Texture can smooth skin without affecting pore details whereas Defringe helps you remove purple or green fringes caused in photos by lens aberrations. Another editing tool Flat-Field Correction helps "correct for sensor and lens characteristics that can result in asymmetrical color casts."
"To use the Flat-Field Correction tool, you'll need to capture a calibration photo by shooting a flat, evenly illuminated reflective surface (or you can make it easy on yourself and use an ExpoDisc or similar tool) along with your photos, keeping the lighting and lens aperture settings the same. Then, after importing your photos into Lightroom Classic, select the photo plus the calibration photo and navigating to Library > Flat-Field Correction," the company said in a blog post.
