After going missing from the silver screen in 2021, Alia Bhatt has had a busy 2022 and it appears to be continuing. So far, Bhatt has featured in the record-breaking blockbuster RRR alongside Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. (Jr. NTR) and played the titular character of Gangubai Kathiawadi in the biographical crime drama. Towards the end of the year, she will play the love interest of real-life partner Ranbir Kapoor in the highly anticipated fantasy adventure Brahmastra. Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings to make its OTT debut soon
While not much is known about the story so far, on July 5th Netflix India released the first teaser of the movie. The 99 seconds long teaser revealed that the plot of the movie is going to be around a murder mystery. The teaser revealed that Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, Roshan Mathew and others will play supporting roles in the movie. The teaser also revealed that the movie will be released on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
The movie is also set to be Bhatt's first venture as Producer as she collaborates with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. Earlier, she said in a statement, “We are very proud and happy how the film has shaped up and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences world over”.
Although Bhatt has given a critically acclaimed performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi, her creative control over Darlings has given critics reason to believe that this movie can truly capture the range of acting as well as creative direction of Bhatt.
