Other offers include six months of unlimited ad-free music streaming from Gaana, a three month free premium video membership from Eros Now and one month of ad-free streaming on Voot.

The Amazon Fire TV stick, which just looks like a large pen drive and more like a big Chromecast, turms any TV with HDMI port into a smart TV with apps. Currently there is no app store but there are app categories to choose from and that includes games, news and sports apps.

The Fire TV stick also comes with Netflix, Voot, Eros Now among other content platforms including the Amazon Prime Video content. However, it cannot stream linear or live TV programming and can't be mistaken for a set top box.

The Fire TV stick also comes with a remote which has voice search and users can search content across categories like language, actors, singers and several others. However, we are still not clear if it can double up as a caster. One Amazon help page says that anything that supports MiraCast can be casted on a bigger screen using the stick.

Now if this is true, then it places it at a comfortable price bracket between Chromecast and Apple TV. Amazon claimed that is working to increase the number of apps and games on the stick platform.

In terms of specifications, the Hon Hai Precision-made TV stick comes with a quad-core processor, MIMO WiFi(802.11ac) and supports 1080p FHD streaming.

Amazon is also offering a credit payback of 499 on Amazon Pay if any consumer purchases the TV stick before May 31.
