Product tracking and organizational shopping site Slice announced the launch of its first iPhone app on November 15, which automatically categorizes and tracks users' online orders based on purchase information stored in their inbox.
The free application is an extension of the US-based Slice's web services, which though currently still in beta, have received widespread media attention from outlets such as Mashable, Techcrunch, Venture Beat and the New York Times. The startup has also attracted funding from Innovation Endeavors -- the venture arm of Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt.
Once downloaded, the application, which works in conjunction with Yahoo! mail and Gmail, scans the user's inbox and collects purchase information such as shipping notifications, tracking numbers, return policies and customer service information.
The app then compiles and organizes this data, reminding users of impending deliveries and allowing users to track shipments, access purchase history and search for customer service information from any number of merchants.
The application is one of a growing number of multi-merchant order tracking apps available in Apple's app store including Delivery Status touch ($4.99), iDelivery ($0.99) and Track This Package ($0.99).
