Apple may launch 2017 iPhone SE variant with new camera setup

Apple is scheduled to hold its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5 and is expected to release a 2017 variant of the iPhone SE that will come with a new camera setup -- more in line with the rumoured vertical camera setup of the upcoming 10th-anniversary iPhone 8.

Apple may launch a new 2017 edition of the iPhone SE with a new camera setup at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5.

According to leaked images from China, the new iPhone SE will come in a body made of glass, which could mean that Apple might ditch the metal body in favour of the glass panel in the upcoming device. The iPhone 8 is also expected to come with a glass back. There are two holes aligned vertically, which is meant for the primary camera and LED flash.

The image also reveals that the shell is made of Ion-X glass, the same material used for Apple Watch Sports.

In terms of specifications, the Apple iPhone SE comes with a 4-inch display, weighs just 113 grams, 0.3 inches thick, 4.87 inches wide and 2.31 inch tall. The LED backlit display has 1136x640 pixels resolution, thereby offering 326 ppi pixel density.

The Apple iPhone SE is powered by the A9 Chip that is made in 64-bit architecture and has the M9 motion co-processor. It has a 12-megapixel iSight rear camera that has 1.22µ pixels, autofocus, panorama mode (can create images in up to 63 MP), f/2.2 aperture, five-element lens, Hybrid IR filter, auto image stabilisation, geotagging, noise reduction and face detection features. This camera can record 4K videos as well as full HD and HD videos. Besides, the iPhone SE can record slow motion videos in full HD at 120 fps and HD videos in 240 fps.

For selfies and video calls, the Apple iPhone SE is armed with a 1.2-megapixel front camera that can record HD videos. It has f/2.4 aperture, backside illumination sensor, burst mode, timer, Auto HDR, exposure control and face detection features.

The Apple iPhone SE also has a fingerprint sensor which is built into the Home button. The iPhone SE has NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac). It has GPS with GLONASS, Digital Compass and LTE with VoLTE as well.

Apple is expected to shed some light on new versions os iOS, macOS and a Siri-based smart speaker during the conference.
