It looks like Apple is gearing up faster than before for the development of its rumoured Apple Car. Last month we heard that Apple and Hyundai are planning to work on an electric car by partnering with each other. More recently, we saw reports stating the iPhone marker will be working with Hyundai's sister firm Kia for the rumoured Apple Car. Now, pushing the rumours and speculations even more, a report from Business Insider Deutschland has stated that Apple has poached a top engineering executive named Manfred Harrer from Porsche, possibly for the development of Apple Car. As mentioned by the report, Harrer was the Head of Chassis Development at Porsche AG.

“The American headhunting is amazing,” a former VW manager told Business Indsider. “Mr. Harrer was a hidden gem. He's a very low-key guy who doesn't go looking for praise. He's the measure of all things in his field.”

Although the recent hiring by Apple on its automobile project seems to bring some level of credence to rumours but according to some analysts and reports, the end product is still years away.

As reported by Bloomberg last month, Apple Inc. will take at least half a decade to launch an electric vehicle as the development work is still at an early stage. It adds that Apple has a small team of hardware engineers developing drive systems, vehicle interior and external car body designs with the goal of eventually shipping a vehicle.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple Car could launch between 2025-2028 at the earliest. He also pointed out that it was too early to talk about the final specifications as the nature of tech specifications were still evolving.
