Apple’s iOS 9.3.1 update fixes web link crashing bug
Apple releases iOS 9.3.1 which fixes the annoying bug that caused tapping web links to crash iPhones.
Apple announced on Thursday that it has released iOS 9.3.1, a patch update for iPhones, iPads and iPods for all iOS 9 users across the globe as an over-the-air update. Users can also download the update via iTunes.
Apple's latest iOS 9.3 was a pretty big upgrade with new features such as 3D Touch shortcuts and a new Night Shift mode. It was, however, laden with plenty of bugs that drove users crazy.
Users started complaining that tapping or long pressing on a weblink in either Safari, Mail, Messages, Notes and Chrome made these apps unresponsive. This new version of iOS 9.1.3 update fixes the issue, though the exact cause of the problem is till unknown. According to Apple dedicated blog MacRumours, it could be related to Universal Links which allows apps and websites to share login credentials.
"It fixes an issue that caused apps to be unresponsive after tapping on links in Safari and other apps," reads the iOS 9.3.1 changelog.
Users can download the iOS 9.3.1 update by heading over to the Settings on their iOS device. They can then go to General > Software Update and update their device.
