Apple working on affordable Watch, game controller says tipster
For the rumoured, affordable Apple Watch, the company is said to be experimenting with plastic material.
If you are one of those who always felt that Apple Watch wearables are a bit too pricey for what they offer? Apple might just be working on a solution for that. As per tipster Jon Prosser, Apple may be working on an affordable Apple Watch. And not just that, the iPhone maker is apparently planning to go big on gaming by launching its own game controller.
For the rumoured, affordable Apple Watch, the company is said to be experimenting with plastic material. This will be the best way in which it can reduce the cost of the wearable device. Right now, the Apple Watches come in Aluminium and Titanium cases. However, on the software side of things, there might be a ‘Kid mode' in the works for future watchOS versions, something that will go well with cheaper Apple Watch.
But the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6 might be a minor upgrade from Watch Series 5. A couple of rumoured features for the device are improved ECG and blood-oxygen sensor.
There's not much information about the controller at this point except for the fact that it is under works and it may compete with Sony PlayStation or Xbox controllers. But it all makes sense considering how Apple has been pushing its Apple Arcade platform along with AR and VR to make games more engaging.
Apple TV might have a considerable hand in pushing the gaming platform. The tipster says that the TV may feature new hardware. That said, the Apple TV 6 is said to be ready and is waiting to ship for months. It may be powered by A12Z processor as well.
As for other devices, Prosser added (via Apple Insider) that there might be an iPad launch in September. However, there's no clarity as to which model it would be. AirPods Studio is still on its way but there's still no launch date assigned whereas the upcoming iPhone 12 may arrive in October.
