Ather 450X Gen 3 launches with big battery, side step and more: Check ex-showroom price

Ather 450X Gen 3 is finally here to take on the Ola S1 Pro! The latest update to the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus bring certain upgrades over the outgoing model and even tag along new prices. The Ather 450 Plus Gen will set you back by Rs. 1.17 lakhs whereas the Ather 450X Gen 3 will cost Rs. 1.39 lakhs, both prices are applicable in Delhi. These prices also include the FAME 2 and state subsidies.

Coming in as the third generation of the Ather scooter, the 450X brings in vastly extended range over the outgoing model. The scooter gets a bigger 3.7kWh battery pack , which is a significant step up from the 2.9kWh battery on the older model. With the extra capacity, the new model can now go up to 146 Kms. Ather continues to give the Ather 450X four driving modes – Warp, Sport, Ride, Smart Eco, and Eco.

With the bigger battery, the Ather 450X can now be charged up to 80 percent from dead in 4 hours and 30 minutes with standard Home charger. The charge up to 100 percent will take 5 hours and 40 minutes, and Ather says you can do fast charging at the rate of 1.5Km per minute from 0-50% and the 1Km per minute for 50-80%. Ather also claims that the performance will be more consistent across terrain and temperature even with a pillion rider on the 450X. The new model also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system as an accessory.

Another big change is the addition of a new side step for the pillion rider, which could be useful for ferrying female riders. Additionally, the Ather 450X also gets a redesigned ORVM that promises to offer a better view than the current model. Ather says that the new mirror is compatible with existing versions of the Ather 450 series scooters.

Additionally, the 7-inch touchscreen LCD display remains but Ather promises significant improvement in performance of the system. In the coming days via software updates, the Ather 450X will also get features such as voice commands, running multiple apps in parallel, offline maps, richer graphics, multi-language support and deeper diagnostics.

Ather says the 450X Gen will be available for purchase starting July 20.
