BookMyShow launches its own online streaming platform: Here’s what it will show you

The firm says that its new streaming feature has already hosted over 30 events.

If you are a movie buff and like to watch them at movie theatres, you must be knowing about BookMyShow, an application through which you can book tickets to theatres and other events. Now that everyone is in their homes, the app has found a new way to bring entertainment to homes. It has introduced its global online video streaming platform for live entertainment. Called BookMyShow Online, the platform is available in India, the US, UK, Germany, UAE, South East Asia, and West Indies.

The firm says that its new streaming feature has already hosted over 30 events including the first-ever global virtual tours of Latin musician Willie Gomez, Australian pop band The Buckleys and also American music artist Taylor Castro's performances amongst others. The firm is also said to host its Virtual Sunburn Home Music Festival.

For underlying video streaming technology that will be powering BookMyShow Online, the company has partnered with Brightcove.

“BookMyShow selected Brightcove's underlying video technology for its streaming platform because we fulfilled four major requirements that were critical to the customer: reliability, scalability, speed, and ease of use. Brightcove has also brought additional advantages, such as the ability to spin up multiple live events with our live streaming capability, enhance the user experience, and provide a lightning-fast video player for streaming content,"said Vinit Mehta, Director of Sales - India, Brightcove.

"Combined with the support of a local team, BookMyShow had the first-mover advantage by going live quickly. We are proud to partner with BookMyShow to enable them to achieve their mission of providing a platform for artists, musicians, and comedians to live stream and monetise their content during the ‘new normal' whereby mass concerts and events are not yet possible,” he added.
