Chat for PCs encrypts messages just like WhatsApp

If you want to send secure messages just like WhatsApp using your PC, then a chat application called Signal Private Messenger could come in handy.

Developed by Open Whisper Systems, the company with whom WhatsApp partnered to launch its encryption services, the app can also be availed as a Chrome app. Signal app came into light when NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said that he preferred to use it to maintain secrecy.

The app works like a chat platform can be used to send multimedia messages along with cross-platform support. Interested users will, however, have to queue to get access to the browser version.

Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp had recently announced that it was encrypting in services. This means that if users have the latest version of WhatsApp, the app will use simple end-to-end security technology so that the messages are not intercepted or read while being delivered. The encryption makes certain that the sent message can be only accessed by the sender and the recipient.
