'Cities: Skylines' announces March release
A new video from Finland's "Cities in Motion" studio illustrates how a traffic planning franchise has transformed into a full-on city builder with March's "Cities: Skylines."
Arriving almost exactly two years after Electronic Arts' awkward 'SimCity' reboot, Colossal Order's 'Cities: Skylines' is now set for a March 10 debut on Windows PC.
And Colossal Order's experience with infrastructure and traffic simulation is evident not only in the various data visualization layers that the trailer cycles through, but a hint of playfulness shown with a selection of more extravagant flyovers.
Earlier in February, French publisher Focus Home Interactive provided its own take on the city management genre with 'Cities XXL,' the latest of several iterations on a similarly titled 2009 release.
At the time of writing, 'Cities: Skylines' franchise predecessors 'Cities in Motion' and 'Cities in Motion 2' (2013) were subject to a midweek 75% reduction via the Steam Network, while pre-orders for 'Skylines' are now being received.
