CyanogenMod’s new feature to protect users’ apps

CyanogenMod, the free online community of Google’s Android operating system, is soon slated to release a new feature as a part of a new update for its users that will allow them to protect their apps

CyanogenMod, the free online community of Google's Android operating system, is soon slated to release a new feature as a part of a new update for its users that will allow them to protect their apps.

According to a TOI report, the new feature will allow users to put a protected status on any app on their smartphone including the pre-installed apps.

The new feature will provide a protected folder on the users' desktop and users can drop the apps they want to protect in that folder. As the app is placed in the folder, then the app will not launch directly or via Chrome or Play Store without chosen mode of authentication.

Users can choose and set the the pattern of authentication according to their own preferences like a PIN, pattern or a fingerprint authentication. The company has made no official announcement about the app and is still working on it, the report said.

Earlier, CyanogenMod had announced that it is planning to shut down its secure messaging service WhisperPush. The secure messaging service automatically encryts the message between two CyanogenMod users.
