DataWind’s 7SC tablet packs a year of free internet for ₹2,999

Known for their inexpensive Android devices, DatawWind has a new tablet on the shelves. The DataWind 7SC costs a meagre ₹2,999 and comes bundled with a year of free internet browsing on Reliance or Telenor networks. Datawind has signed an exclusive agreement with Den Snapdeal TV-Shop for selling these tablets through the latter's 24x7 TV-commerce channel.

This isn't the first device to offer a year of free internet usage from the company. Their Ubislate lineup of tablets and Pocketsurfer smartphones were already offering it. In addition to regular voice calling functionality, the tablet incorporates DataWind's web-delivery platform (covered by 18 US and international patents) that allows the devices to deliver the fastest mobile web experience on regular GSM-EDGE based networks. This unique technology reduces bandwidth consumption by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing the delivery of web pages even on congested GPRS networks in five to seven seconds.

The tablet is one of the most low priced tablet computer with cellular connectivity, allowing internet access with a regular SIM. Commenting on the launch, Suneet Singh Tuli, President and CEO of DataWind Inc. said, "We are launching this tablet to address the forgotten billions, who are our largest constituent of digital age today.
