Experience Europe’s highest mountain peak with Google Street View
You can now virtually experience Europe’s highest mountain from the perspective of a climber, thanks to Google Street View

Europe's highest peak Mont Blanc can now be explored with Google Street View. The panaromic view of these mountain peaks can now be viewed, offering a 360-degree look of these snow capped surroundings. It offers experiences which include running up and down the summit, climb ice cliffs or skiing. Essentially it allows viewers to look at Mont Blanc from the perspective of a climber.
Google's Street view team has made this possible by collaborating with a team of professional mountaineers. Viewers can apparently 'walk' across the Mer De Glace - a region that experts believe is getting affected by global warming and constantly shrinking.
"This Street View imagery serves as a digital record of Mont Blanc as it appears today, so future outdoor enthusiasts and scientists can look back at this time capsule to see how the mountain has changed," Sandy Russell, Google's project lead for the Mont Blanc Street View project, wrote in a blog post.
Google's Street View was launched back in 2007 to provide panaromic views of many streets and places around the globe. The search engine giant also released the Street view app for Android and iOS, where they can engage in immersive 360 degree imagery, explore Street View content via Google Maps along with contributions from users around the world.
