Facebook for work coming in January: report
For anyone making a new year's resolution to cut back on social media use, a new challenge might arise in early 2015 -- in the workplace, as Facebook's new work-focused site is now being tipped to go live as soon as this January.
For anyone making a new year's resolution to cut back on social media use, a new challenge might arise in early 2015 -- in the workplace, as Facebook's new work-focused site is now being tipped to go live as soon as this January.
According to the Wall Street Journal, which quotes a person 'briefed on the matter,'' the new site, which is being dubbed Facebook at Work by the media, is ready to go.
More of a tool than a place for posting images of cats and GIFs, the enterprise-focused version of Facebook is expected to make collaboration and group conversations and communications simple -- not least because the features will be presented in a way that are familiar to over 1 billion people and counting.
The fact that Facebook at Work is so close to becoming a reality would also explain why the company has this month launched a standalone app version of its Groups messaging feature.
The new app makes it easier to create new groups and manage alerts, notifications and communications received from them, as well as discovering new groups based on friends' interests.
News about Facebook at Work first broke on November 16 when the Financial Times revealed the company had been working on the project for over a year.
