Facebook may launch new hyperlocal services website
You may soon get a hyperlocal discovery website from the house of Facebook.
Reportedly, the social network company has been quietly testing a website that helps its user to find and local services like spas, wellness, event planning and pet management.
The pilot site, functional from November last year, works via a Facebook page where local vendors are allowed to upload their details and services offered. The pages are separated in terms of geographical area.

Users can rate a given service on the page and the site offers services listed under ten subheads, including arts and marketing, automotive, business services, financial services, event planning, home improvement, lifestyle, medical and health, pet services, and spa, beauty and personal care.
Although the company has not revealed any plans of monetising the site, Facebook has over two million small and medium businesses using its platform which could be a gamechanger in the hyperlocal services market segment.
