Facebook upgrades Messenger as it eyes billionth user
Every account on Facebook Messenger will now have a unique ID, code and link which will make finding and contacting them even easier
Messenger has reached the massive figure of 990 Million users, inching closer to the size of Facebook owned WhastApp's user base.
With the growing number of users, Facebook is trying to simplify communication by making it easier to find other users. The instant messaging app that lets you chat with friends and even pages that represent a businesses. Every account on Facebook Messenger will now have a unique ID, code and link which will make finding and contacting them even easier. All you need to do is click on their link or scan the code to initiate a chat.
A report also states that Facebook is developing bots that will handle the mundane inquiries and support requests that businesses regularly get on their page. While the feature is still under development, it will let individuals talk to a chat bot representing the business using a resource of replies stored in the system.
Facebook's decision to split the messenger has let them focus on messaging features and compete with other platforms like Snapchat, which also lets publishers run channels under the discover option and provides codes to make finding someone on the app easy.
