Facebook’s Slideshow is a mix of ‘Year in Review’ and Snapchat’s ‘My Story’
Facebook already shows suggestions for photos and videos to be uploaded to the app by looking through your recent captures on the phone. Now, it will also suggest an automatic movie with themes such as Nostalgic, Playful, Night Out, Birthday, Epic, Thankful, Tropical, Amped or Bollywood.
One thing Facebook is insecure about is the time people spend on an app. Whether it's face-swapping, movie making or video sharing, Facebook is doing all it can to take users back to their timeline. With Slideshow feature, Facebook is going to let you create a short movie from multiple photos or videos you've captured that day.

Facebook has been increasingly trying to get people to share their videos. With Slideshow, it is trying to do that by creating the video for the user by picking up photos from their device in the last 24 hours. Similar to Snapchat's My Story feature on Snapchat that shows the Snaps posted by a user in the last 24 hours.
However, this isn't the first time that Facebook is automatically making a video by going through your photos and asking you to share it. Every year, Facebook creates a free "Year in Review" video for its users and the Slideshow feature seems to be heavily inspired from it.
The Slideshow feature is only one of the ways in which Facebook is trying to push video content among launching 360 degree videos, Facebook Live and others.
