Facebook study reveals men older in two-thirds of relationships

Men are reportedly older in two-thirds of opposite-sex relationships, a new study from Facebook has revealed.

Men are reportedly older in two-thirds of opposite-sex relationships, a new study from Facebook has revealed.


The study explored the age difference between users in a relationship on the platform and found that the average age gap between partners in a relationship was 2.4 years.

According to Mashable, the average age difference between those in same-sex relationships is even higher with some instances showing the age gap as almost double that of opposite-sex couples.

The study found that men are older in 67 % of Facebook relationships, and women are older only 20 percent of the time.

The social networking giant's age data also revealed cultural differences around the planet with the average Egyptian man 5.1 years older than his partner and wo men older in only 6 % of relationships in Egypt.

It was found that US and Australia were at the opposite end of the spectrum Australia is at the other end of the spectrum, with an average age difference of only 1.8 years in opposite-sex relationships.
