There may be a problem with your email client or your system may have a virus. Run a thorough virus scan, and get rid of infections. If your PC is not infected, then take a complete backup of your emails and address book, reinstall the email client and import the backed up emails and address book using the import/export function. This should solve your problem. Be very careful when opening attachments. Receiving malware and viruses via email is very common these days. So make sure your antivirus is updated at all times.
