Outdoor bike tracking will become available for Fitbit Surge users by next month in North America on iOS and Android devices, the company announced Monday.
Global availability will be coming soon, they say, and the service leverages GPS and the other sensors in the gadget to calculate distance, duration, average speed, heart rate, calories burned and time.
Currently, the software is being tested by Sean Maloney, a stroke survivor and tech industry executive who is wearing a Surge on a 5,000-mile journey across the US on which he embarked Sunday.
He's raising money for the American Heart Association to continue the fight against stroke and heart disease.
