Something of a pioneer in the field, Sony has already released its third-generation smartwatch. The device has a 1.6-inch square screen with a resolution of 320x320 pixels, along with a microphone, an accelerometer, an internal compass, a gyroscope and GPS sensors for the most accurate activity tracking possible. There is also a dedicated music app for listening to playlists through a Bluetooth headset.

The Sony Smartwatch 3 costs $249.99.

Pebble Steel

Like the original Pebble, this more refined model has an ePaper display and is compatible with Android and iOS. The device can be ordered directly through the manufacturer's website.

The Pebble Steel is available for $249.

Samsung Gear Live

With the Gear Live, Samsung offers a smartwatch with a 1.63-inch AMOLED screen (320x320 pixels), a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a heart-rate monitor and the Android Wear platform, which allows it to respond to voice commands. This is a device with a particularly good feature set for the price.

The Samsung Gear Live sells for $199.
