The same year HBO announced a prequel series based on the same fantasy world created by author G.R.R. Martin called House of the Dragon. And after years of development and shooting, the show is finally ready to make its debut. And what's more? The series will be directly released on the OTT platform. House of the Dragon OTT release date revealed

The Games of Thrones was based on the epic fantasy novel series called A Song of Ice and Fire by G.R.R Martin. The story was set in medieval times in a fictional Earth where dragons, magic and ice zombies exist. Over the course of eight seasons, the story became an intriguing and complex plot of war strategies, political conflicts and conspiracies to stake claim on the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Now, the House of the Dragon takes the story 200 years before the events of the Game of Thrones and will focus on the House Targaryen, the only race in Westeros that could control dragons.

The anticipation around the series has been building up ever since its first announcement in October 2019 as fans wanted to watch more of the fantasy-filled world they came to know and love through Game of Thrones. The source material for this series will be G.R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood. A great news for fans is that after years spent in development, the series will finally get its OTT release the next month.

According to HBO, the first episode of the spin-off series will be released on Sunday, August 21 on HBO and HBO Max. Indian fans will get to watch the series the next day, Monday August 22 on Disney+ Hotstar. The 10-episode long season one will run till October 24, 2022, with episodes releasing once a week. The show will feature a star-studded cast of Paddy Considine, Emma D'Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans and others.
